Competition Time

Althams has entered into EBLEX's competition to find England's Best Sirloin Steak, Innovative Steak and Best Steak Pie. The three competitions form part of the first ever 'EBLEX Quality Standard Mark Excellence Awards', developed to recognise and reward quality, innovation and excellence in beef and lamb production.

Awards organiser, foodservice project manager for EBLEX, Hugh Judd, said: "We created the 'Quality Standard Mark Excellence Awards' to encourage innovation, promote best practice and recognise those businesses that are leading the way in terms of quality and innovation in steak products. Beef and lamb steaks are top selling products in both the retail and foodservice industries and a core part of EBLEX's product development work - so we think it's time to celebrate the best!

Althams has a strong reputation when it comes to competitions, especially the BPEX Foodservice Pork Product of the Year award. In 2012 Althams won the Best Innovative Pork Sausage. In 2013 we showcased our Pork, Leek and Welsh Rarebit Sausage in attempt to defend our title. We also won gold in the BPEX Foodservice Sausage of the Year with our Traditional Pork Sausage.
