Val Altham was born in Kendal, Westmorland, now known as a Cumbria. Her contacts throughout the area provided an excellent base for when she started working with Thomas.
Val trained as an accountant and brought structure to the business, as Thomas concentrated on the butchery and farming.
They saw the opportunity for the supply of meat to The Lake District hotels and surrounding area and by introducing a strategic development plan of achieving business growth.
By implementing the plan Althams Butchers became stronger, in turn leaving the foundations of a successful family business for her sons and future generations.
